Release the goo

So i just recently saw the new commercials for Cadbury's Creme Eggs...which are one of my fav things to eat around easter time of course lol.

Anyways, i really like how they re-invented themselves in these new commercials, the ad campaign is pretty cool, and they've created a new slogan called 'Release the goo'.. but for some reason, the commercial i found on youtube has it saying "Here today, goo tomorow". I don't know, i like 'release the goo better.' lol

Great DM piece

I found this really cool and inspiring DM piece that won silver.
Read the case study

Challenge
Women who go through domestic abuse in the UAE are hesitant to speak or complain. City of Hope is the only organisation of its kind in Dubai that provides shelter to hundreds of women and hope to all the battered and bruised housewives. They wanted us to tackle this issue in a very sensitive yet effective manner so as to raise awareness and encourage women to speak up.

Solution
We had to reach our target audience in an interesting and arresting manner. We distributed a different kind of beauty kit to women shopping in malls, especially when they are at cosmetics/beauty products stores or shops that cater exclusively to them.

Best use of media

Verryyyy clever yet simple. Never seen this before.

This print ad placed in daily newspapers was part of the campaign for T-com
( leading Croation phone operator) info services.
The goal was to illustrate how T-com info services make any phone number easy to find. All numbers in the real news articles were coloures magenta ( T-Com
brand colour) which made them stand out and become more visible to the readers.
Explanation and call for action was given in the small print ad, located
in the lower right corner.

Libra

ibra! About Your Sign...

Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons, when the harvest of all the hard work of the spring is reaped. There is a mellowness and sense of relaxation in the air as mankind enjoys the last of the summer sun and the fruits of his toil. Librans too are among the most civilized of the twelve zodiacal characters and are often good looking. They have elegance, charm and good taste, are naturally kind, very gentle, and lovers of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring.

They have good critical faculty and are able to stand back and look impartially at matters which call for an impartial judgment to be made on them. But they do not tolerate argument from anyone who challenges their opinions, for once they have reached a conclusion, its truth seems to them self-evident; and among their faults is an impatience of criticism and a greed for approval. But their characters are on the whole balanced, diplomatic and even tempered.

Studies show people actually like to watch commercials!

Here's a blog I found on perezhilton.com

Pretty interesting..

People always seem to complain about watching ads on television. But, anew study reveals that viewers find television more pleasurable when they actually watch commercials.

Really???????

NYU Stern School of Business researchers found that viewers did say they preferred to avoid advertisements. However, they rated their overall experience of watching a television show higher when commercials were included.

How does that make sense??????????

The report stated that "People often adapt to the experience of watching television such that each successive minute is slightly less enjoyable than the previous one. Advertisements, although independently aversive, disrupt this adaptation process and can therefore make the overall experience more enjoyable."

There are different reasons why ads during a show helped improve the experience.

The study said "A disruption in a suspenseful plotline might heighten anticipation and intensify its subsequent resolution. Similarly, commercials may offer opportunities to elaborate on what viewers have watched so far or to savor what is still to come."

This probably has nothing to do with advertising..

..but i don't care, I absolutely adore the new Katy Perry song Thinking of you and the video especially. Well actually, i guess i could talk about the art direction in this video, so in a way i guess it kinda does relate to advertising a little.
So the art direction in this music video is beautiful and it flows very well. It's set in a 1940s theme and just really captures the essence of the actual time. You just have to watch the video and you'll know what i mean...and ya so maybe it made me shed a tear even. lol

Why Traditional Advertising is Dead

Here's an interesting article I've found by Jules Rosen.

Future trend, no more newspapers? More and more newpapers are dead... The wave of the future may be logo-imprinted products, which have proven to be a better value than either newsprint or online advertising. targeted to your existing and future clients are more effective in promotion your brand.

Promotional products can cost as little as a few pennies for a sewing kit to 100's of items under a dollar each such as stress squeeze balls, desk staplers, stress squeeze balls, for the office. Personal items such as sewing kits, combs, brushes or for the ladies (so often forgot) cosmetic brush sets or lip balm.

Inexpensive yes - but effective also = promotional products - targeted advertising.

http://WWW.BESTLOGOPRODUCTS.COM has sold imprinted advertising specialties on the internet bypassing the traditional distributors since 2008

Controversial Ad in Britain

Here's an ad that I cannot believe was approved to be advertised on buses and God knows where else...Well, they wanted to get attention..they definetly got it.
But in my opinion, this never should have been allowed to be advertised....stupid athiests.

"..despite its gloomy undertones the advert creators said it had a positive message which encouraged people to enjoy life instead of worrying about what happened afterwards.
The £140,000 atheist advertising campaign will be plastered across 200 bendy buses in London and 600 others across England, Scotland and Wales." by Daily Mail Reporter

Blue Foundation - Bonfires

Absolutely just love this song...even tho it has nothing really to do with advertising, lol i still wanted to post this. The video shown is not the actual video, a fan made it on windows movie maker...too bad it wasn't with final cut lol.

Summer Vacation

How I cannot wait till the summer!... This summer I plan on going away to Serbia for about a month, and I'm pretty excited because I have never really been outside of North America since I was 2!.. I know that's pretty sad lol. But hopefully if things go well I'll be going to Serbia in a city called Vrsac to visit my dad's family there. But of course I would love to see Belgrade and other parts of Serbia. I've actually found out they have some pretty cool advertising agencies there as well like Ogilvy, so I will surely be paying them a visit hehe :)

Jason Brooks

Is one of my Favourite illustrators everr!..He's done lots of fashion, interior, commercial and CD cover vector illustrations. Most of his work is very Art Deco style design and use of lots of Miami-like scenes..it's very chic and sexy, I Lovess it lol.
Most of my inspiration for drawing comes from Jason. This is something I would really love to learn and hopefully one day will :)

IMC Campaign

So for my IMC Campaign our client we have to do is Freshpair.com. This is an online shopping network that only sells underwear, bras and lots of other lingerie for men and women. This was definitely a fun client to work on because you could really push the envelope with this one :)   heheh.
The main idea for my group's creative campaign is 'Finding an inner piece'  lol
I'm pretty excited about it, but I have A LOT of work still to do.

Type For Change

I really learned a lot in Raf's Type desin and layout class last week. We had a guest speaker who does the poster designs for Typeforchange.org, which were really interesting, especially with the way he used the fonts for the posters. So the assignment for that class i had to do was create a tabloid poster using type and fonts as the main element for the poster, and of course it had to be about the climate change,.. which I didn't really know much about. I started researching global warming and etc. I was really stumped on what to make this poster about....I thought of the globe melting on an ice cream cone.. but that seemed too silly.....
So I started thinking of all the hazardous/chemical/warning symbols and labels we see everywhere, and that's where my idea started cookin....That is all i will say about that for now, I'll post up the final product soon.
Good day

Some cool ads in Serbian I found

These ads were done by Nemanja Dragojlovic. And it's advertising about your city art galleries.
I really like how he made each ad like a piece of art work from styles of artists like Pollock, Van Gogh, and Picasso.

The copy says: " Pollock - How to...or, you can see real art and learn more about it in your city galleries

My fav advertising quotes

"I am one who believes that one of the greatest dangers of advertising is not that of misleading people, but that of boring them to death."
- Leo Burnett

Advertising says to people, 'Here's what we've got. Here's what it will do for you. Here's how to get it.'”
- Leo Burnett

“Make it simple. Make it memorable. Make it inviting to look at. Make it fun to read.”
- Leo Burnett

“If you don't get noticed, you don't have anything. You just have to be noticed, but the art is in getting noticed naturally, without screaming or without tricks.”
- Leo Burnett
